The TouchMath Story

50 years of Explict,
Multisensory Math

TouchMath was born nearly fifty years ago from the innovative mind of Janet Bullock, an elementary school teacher who sought to transform the way her students approached foundational math. Recognizing the challenges and frustrations many children faced, she developed a simple yet powerful idea: placing counting points on numbers to bridge the gap between concrete understanding and symbolic learning. This breakthrough led to the creation of a multisensory approach to math education that has evolved significantly over the decades.

Years of research and classroom testing have expanded TouchMath into a comprehensive, supplemental curriculum that benefits students of varying abilities and learning styles. Our commitment to continuous improvement allows us to adapt and innovate in response to the diverse needs of today’s learners. TouchMath is utilized in classrooms across all 50 states and internationally, reinforcing our belief that every child has the potential to succeed in mathematics with the right tools and most importantly, empowered teachers.
