Printed, Multisensory Math Curriculum

TouchMath Print Solution

TouchMath is specifically designed to help students develop foundational math skills through explicit, systematic instruction combined with multisensory strategies and specialized manipulatives. Our print-based solution provides a standards-aligned, research-based math program designed to support students struggling with mathematics. Informed by data and progress monitoring, it aims to help them achieve positive outcomes by incorporating tactile, auditory, and visual learning methods.

Print Solution Includes:

Comprehensive Teacher’s Guides

Each Teacher’s Guide provides a consistent and predictable instructional sequence designed to remediate and accelerate student progress. Beginning with a pre-test, each unit of instruction is segmented into modules and clusters, providing explicit teacher-led instructions aligned to student activity sheets that scaffold based on the needs of each student. This structured approach promotes consistency and allows for easy monitoring of student progress.

A Look Inside the Print Solution

Explicit, Multisensory Instruction

Grounded in research, TouchNumerals and TouchPoints bridge physical objects to abstract representations in an explicit, yet meaningful way.
The Concrete-Representational-Abstract (CRA) continuum is central to TouchMath’s strategy. It systematically develops math concepts from hands-on experiences (Concrete) to visual representations (Representational), and finally to abstract symbols (Abstract). This approach ensures students understand math concepts, making complex ideas more accessible for those who struggle with mathematics.
TouchNumerals and TouchPoints serve as essential tools in bridging the gap from physical objects to abstract representations. TouchNumerals are tactile manipulatives that represent numbers with touch points, allowing students to physically count the points with their fingers. This multisensory engagement reinforces number recognition and basic counting skills needed in early mathematical development. As students’ progress, these touch points are visually represented in math activities, fostering a seamless transition from hands-on counting to recognizing numbers in a more symbolic form. This bridge provided by TouchNumerals and TouchPoints is crucial for strengthening students’ numeric fluency and confidence.

Student Activity Sheets

Over 4,000 student activity sheets designed to work alongside our hands-on manipulatives support math development and skill generalization.
The TouchMath Print Solution has over 4,000 student activity sheets designed to meticulously work alongside our hands-on manipulatives support math development and skill generalization.
Explicit instruction ensures that students not only recognize the connections between the concrete, representational, and abstract stages, but can also apply their understanding independently. The meaningful application of this approach helps students to retain and transfer their skills to various math contexts. As a result, students build a solid foundation in math, achieving greater success in both immediate tasks and future learning.

Manipulatives

The print solution includes our classroom set of hands-on manipulatives – a wide range of concrete, multisensory learning experiences.
Core manipulatives included in the Print Solution include:
  • 3-D Numerals: Two sets of 5” magnetic plastic numerals and operation signs.
  • Student Number Cards: Set of 10 double-sided cards with/without counting patterns.
  • Desktop TouchLines: Set of 24 double-sided horizontal/vertical number lines with counting patterns.
  • TouchNumerals: Three sets of 5” foam numerals, detachable TouchPoints, and operation signs
  • TouchShapes: 324-piece set including 6 plastic shapes in 6 colors and 6 sizes.
  • Texture Cards: 36 oversized cards with textured TouchPoints in four fun themes.
  • TouchPoint Counters: 500 multi-colored, multi-use plastic counters.
TouchMath core manipulatives are scientifically designed to correlate with student activity sheets and intervention components, providing a concrete, hands-on experience that is proven to accelerate learning.

Progress Monitoring

Each Teacher’s Guide includes reproducible progress monitoring sheets to provide a consistent and reliable system for ongoing data collection.
Pre-and post-assessments are essential components of the TouchMath program. These assessments allow educators to understand students’ existing knowledge and identify areas that need improvement before beginning a new unit. The pre-assessment results guide educators in tailoring their instruction to meet specific student needs. After the completion of the unit, post-assessments are used to measure student progress and the effectiveness of the instructional strategies employed. This systematic approach ensures that any instructional gaps are addressed promptly, promoting consistent student progress.
Ongoing data collection and the use of permanent work samples are crucial for informing instruction and driving student outcomes. Continuous data collection throughout the learning process provides educators with real-time insights into student performance, enabling timely interventions when needed. Permanent work samples serve as tangible evidence of student learning and progress. By analyzing these samples, educational teams can make informed decisions about instructional adjustments, ensuring that each student receives the support needed to succeed. This comprehensive approach integrates data-driven instruction with tangible evidence, fostering an effective and responsive educational environment.
