The Upper Grades Standards Edition Unit 8 (Fractions, Decimals & Percents Level 2) expands on previous learning with fractions, decimals, and percents. Using manipulatives and concrete models along with scaffolded instruction, students learn fraction concepts, addition, subtraction, multiplication & division of fractions and decimals, and application. Learners use visuals throughout the unit to computation, interpretation and completion of graphs, charts, and tables. The mathematical standards of identifying and making use of patterns and structure maximizes the probability of student success. Formal testing procedures are reinforced helping the students become accustomed to a mixture of writing answers and bubbling answers. A variety of questioning styles are used in the pre- and post-tests.
